1. Who is responsible

The controller under the GDPR is Silicon Valentine, Daxerstraße, 82140 Olching, Germany. Email: info@siliconvalentine.com.

2. Overview

This site sets cookies only with your consent, and only for Google Analytics (section 4). Fonts are served from our own server, and we embed no third-party content such as videos, maps or social media widgets. Otherwise we process personal data only in the technically necessary hosting logs, when you write to us, when you submit an app, and when we contact app makers or site owners at their published business addresses (section 7).

3. Hosting

The site is delivered as static pages by Firebase Hosting (Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland). When you open a page, the hosting provider processes connection data (IP address, time, requested page, browser and operating system) to deliver the page and keep the service secure. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, our legitimate interest in fast and secure delivery. Google acts as our processor (Art. 28 GDPR); transfers to Google LLC in the US are covered by the EU-US Data Privacy Framework (Art. 45 GDPR) and the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.

4. Cookies and Google Analytics (only with your consent)

If you choose “Accept analytics” in the cookie notice, we use Google Analytics 4, a web analytics service of Google Ireland Limited. Without your consent, Google Analytics is not loaded, no data is sent to Google and no cookies are set.

Google Analytics sets the cookies “_ga” and “_ga_JG44N1M60Q” for up to two years to recognize your browser on later visits. It processes usage data: pages viewed, time and length of the visit, the referring page, device and browser information, and the approximate location (country, region, city) derived from your IP address. According to Google, Google Analytics 4 does not store IP addresses. We see only aggregated reports and use them to improve the site. Event data is deleted automatically after the retention period set in Google Analytics (at most 14 months).

Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, § 25(1) TDDDG). You can withdraw it at any time with effect for the future: open “Cookie settings” at the bottom of any page and choose “Decline”; the Google Analytics cookies are then deleted in your browser. Google processes the data as our processor; a transfer to Google LLC in the US may take place, covered by the EU-US Data Privacy Framework (Art. 45 GDPR).

We store your choice for twelve months in your browser's local storage (entry “sv_consent”) so the notice does not appear on every page. This entry is strictly necessary to respect your choice (§ 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG) and is never sent to us.

5. Contact form, app submissions and email

When you use the contact form or the app submission form, we process what you enter (for submissions also the app's name, website, category, pricing and description) to answer you, and for submissions to check and list the app. When you email us, we process your address and message. Providing the data is voluntary, but without an email address we cannot reply. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, our legitimate interest in answering enquiries and running the directory; for listings also Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR. A hidden field and the time taken to fill in the form protect against spam; we use no external captcha service.

Delivery via EmailJS: When you send a form, your browser transmits the entries encrypted to EmailJS (EmailJS Pte. Ltd., Singapore), which also processes your IP address. EmailJS creates an email from it and sends it through an email account held at Google (Google Ireland Limited) to our mailbox. According to EmailJS, its servers are located in the US (Amazon Web Services) and it keeps the sending history for up to 30 days. EmailJS processes the data as our processor (Art. 28 GDPR); transfers to Singapore and the US are covered by the EU Standard Contractual Clauses (Art. 46(2)(c) GDPR), and transfers to Google LLC by the EU-US Data Privacy Framework (Art. 45 GDPR).

Email provider: Our mailbox is operated by Zoho (Zoho Corporation B.V., Beneluxlaan 4B, 3527 HT Utrecht, Netherlands) as our processor (Art. 28 GDPR). Emails are stored in a Zoho data center in the US; transfers outside the EU are covered by the EU Standard Contractual Clauses (Art. 46(2)(c) GDPR).

We keep messages as long as needed to handle the request and any listing that follows from it, and delete requests without follow-up after twelve months at the latest, unless statutory retention periods apply.

6. When we contact you first (information under Art. 14 GDPR)

We write to companies behind AI companion apps and to people who run related websites, for example to offer a free listing, to ask for free test access or to suggest one of our pages as a source. We only use addresses that are published for business, partnership or press enquiries.

  • Data: your name if it is published with the address, the email address, the company or website, where we found the address, and our correspondence with you.
  • Source: publicly accessible websites, usually the app's or site's own contact, press or partnership page.
  • Purpose and legal basis: building our directory and our reviews, and telling site owners about relevant pages: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, our legitimate interest in reporting on these apps.
  • Storage: as long as we are in contact, and at most 24 months after the last message. If you object, we keep only your address on a do-not-contact list so we never write to you again.
  • Your right to object (Art. 21 GDPR): reply “no thanks” to any of our emails, or write to info@siliconvalentine.com. We will not contact you again.

7. Recipients

Recipients of personal data are our hosting provider (Google, section 3), for forms EmailJS and Google (section 5), our email provider Zoho (section 5) and, only with your consent, Google as the provider of Google Analytics (section 4). We pass on data to others only where we are legally obliged to.

8. Your rights

You have the right of access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and to object to processing based on legitimate interests (Art. 21). You can withdraw consent at any time with effect for the future (Art. 7(3)). Write to the email address above. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority. The authority responsible for us is the Bayerisches Landesamt für Datenschutzaufsicht, Promenade 18, 91522 Ansbach, Germany.

We make no automated decisions in the sense of Art. 22 GDPR. This site is intended for adults (18+).
